Warm restaurant interior with wooden tables and hanging lamps.

Challenge

The menu changed weekly and had been re-typed in three different styles. The room was warm and specific; the paper that described it was not.

Approach

We set the menu on one grid with a fixed header and one sumac-red rule, so a weekly change is a line of type, not a redesign. The identity takes its cues from the room: arched forms, warm ink, type that reads by candlelight.

A wide dining room with tables set for service.
The roomThe grid takes its proportions from the dining room itself.

The menuOne grid, fixed header — the dish list changes, the page does not.
A menu on a clipboard beside a candle and a small plant.
The cardTerracotta stock and one hit of red — the card handed at the table.
Empty wooden tables and chairs before service.
The floorSame warm ink on the tables the grid was drawn for.

Final result

The dining room in use, lettering on the walls.
